When to Go

The weather in Asia varies based on destination, with warm summers and cold winters in Japan and year-round sunshine in Malaysia and Singapore. Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia are drier between November and April, while Indonesia and Borneo receive less rain between April and October.

While planning a trip to Asia, an important consideration is the major holidays, including New Year and Golden Week (the end of April and first week of May) in Japan, and Lunar New Year (typically in late January or early February), which cause spikes in regional travel, leading to larger crowds and longer wait times at popular attractions.
