What To Do
Hoh Rain Forest contains old-growth forest, fields of ferns, moss-covered trees and just as many shades of green as the Emerald Isle. This natural wonder, one of the wettest places in the contiguous United States, is a primordial paradise perfect for wandering. Other must-see sites in Olympic National Park include the easily accessible Hurricane Ridge, a popular hiking destination where you can also ski and snowboard; stunning Lake Crescent, a glacially carved lake that is ideal for kayaking and sailing; Sol Duc Valley, which is brimming with old-growth forest and lakes and houses the Sol Duc River and Sol Duc Falls, considered the most beautiful falls in the park; and Kalaloch Beach, a driftwood-dotted stretch of sand where forest meets the sea.
When to Go
The best time to visit Olympic National Park is from late spring to early fall when the park’s landscape is most lush and the weather is the warmest. Keep in mind that Hoh Rain Forest receives several inches of rain throughout the year, with November the wettest month.
