About Tulsa
Explore Oklahoma
Overview
Tulsa has an abundance of culture and attractions. One of its must-see sights is the Woody Guthrie Center, located in the Tulsa Arts District, where the legacy of the legendary folk singer and Oklahoma native lives. No visit to Tulsa, which has a rich oil and Native American history, is complete without stopping in at the Philbrook Museum of Art, located in the former mansion of oil tycoon Waite Phillips; and the Gilcrease Museum, which consists of an expansive collection of the art, culture and history of North America and represents hundreds of indigenous cultures from across North and South America. Tulsa is also home to the "Center of the Universe," a mysterious place where if you stand in the middle of the circle that marks the spot and make a sound, it is echoed back many times louder.
When to Go
The best time to visit Tulsa is from April through May when the weather is the most pleasant. May is also when the Tulsa International Mayfest occurs, a famous spring festival that takes place in the Tulsa Arts District. Summer in Tulsa can be quite hot and crowded.
