About Boston
American history is alive and well in Boston. Massachusetts’ capital was founded by the Puritans in 1630. You’ll find that the city’s pivotal role in the American Revolution is still palpable as you walk along its two and a half mile Freedom Trail in downtown Boston. You can almost hear the hoof beats of Paul Revere’s horse clomping down the street.

When to Go
The best time to visit Boston is May through October. Boston is beautiful in the fall, as the leaves turn, lighting the city ablaze with color, and the air feels crisp as a McIntosh apple.
Springtime is also lovely, with the city in bloom. Summer sees the most visitors, as music flows from the Boston Hatch Shell, baseball season at Fenway Park is well underway, and the skies along the Charles River light up with fireworks on the fourth of July.
Fast Facts
The bright green left field wall at Fenway Park, revered home of the Red Sox, was once referred to as the Wall, and later, the Green Monster.
The Freedom Trail traverses sixteen of Boston’s most historical sites, including the Paul Revere House, Old North Church and Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Although Revere didn't actually yell, “The British are coming,” he did manage to warn his fellow colonists about the British invasion. And the rest is American history.
