What to Do
- Cathedral Cove: Pristine emerald waters framed by arching sea cliffs; Cathedral Cove uniquely greets all of its visitors. Take in the neighboring Te Hoho rock formation or the Te Whanganui-o-Hei Marine Reserve, an ideal location for diving and viewing the local marine wildlife.
- Diving: Home to an abundant marine life, Mercury and Gemstone Bay provide calm waters and a vibrant wildlife, including sponge gardens, and reefs. Coromandel is an incredible location for both snorkeling and scuba diving.
- Geothermal Waters: Take time for self and soak in the mineral-rich waters abundant in the area. Visit local geothermal spas or dig your own hot pool within the sands of Hot Water Beach.
When to Go
The ideal travel season for Coromandel is within the spring months, September to November. The weather is pleasant, the days run longer, and there are fewer crowds, lending itself to ideal conditions for outdoor adventures and activities. The summer months bring higher temperatures and because Coromandel is such a popular holiday destination, it also brings peak crowds.
