When to Go
Visit Puerto Vallarta or Riviera Nayarit between April and June, when you’ll find less rain and fewer crowds.
If you enjoy whale-watching, you’ll find that the best time to visit is between January and March when temperatures remain in the delightful mid-70s F. Nights can be cooler during these months, dropping into the 60s.
The hottest temperatures occur from June through October, reaching the mid-90s F. Riviera Nayarit offers a similar balmy climate, boasting average summer temperatures around 85 degrees F and a lovely 75 degrees F during the winter.
Fast Facts
The 1964 John Huston film, “The Night of the Iguana,” starring Richard Burton and Eva Gardner shone the light of fame on Puerto Vallarta, and on Burton’s relationship with Elizabeth Taylor. The hotel in which their love blossomed continues to be a popular site still visited by many film buffs.
