Watch a classical ballet or modern theatrical performance at Guadalajara’s neoclassical theater, Teatro Degollado, with its sixteen Corinthian columns and vivid red and gold interior.

Take a Tapatío Tour on an open-air bus from Guadalajara's historic center to the charming town of Tlaquepaque. Shop, listen to mariachi music, people watch, and enjoy an authentic Mexican meal at El Parian square. Spend a few hours at the Guadalajara Zoo, one of the most famous in Latin America.

When to Go

Guadalajara is blessed with a dry, sunny climate most of the year. The rainy season runs from June to September. Some of the city’s major festivals include the Fiesta Internacional del Mariachi, held in late August to early September, and the month-long Fiestas de Octubre.

Fast Facts

Jalisco has its own miniature version of America’s Grand Canyon, the Río Grande de Santiago, on the northeast side of Guadalajara. It is sixteen miles long and from two to five miles wide.

Located near Guadalajara’s city center, the colorful town of Tlaquepaque was founded by Totonac natives who preceded the Spaniards.

The area offers charming galleries, shops, and cafes nestled amid quaint cobblestone streets.
