Overview
Located 12 miles off Mexico’s historic Yucatán Peninsula, the 250-square-mile island of Cozumel is a diver’s delight. Its colorful reefs offer nearly 100 dive sites, about a dozen of which are suitable for snorkeling.
This enticing isle lies around 45 miles south of Cancun, a popular cruise port, and year-round vacation destination. Vacationers can also fly directly to Cozumel or take a 45-minute ferry ride from Playa del Carmen in Riviera Maya.

Take a day trip to Riviera Maya on the mainland and visit the ancient Mayan’s walled city of Tulum, built in honor of the sun god, overlooking turquoise Caribbean seas. Travel to Chichen Itza, known as the capital of the ancient Mayan empire.
When to Go
November and December are Cozumel’s mildest months. The busiest time of year is mid-December to April. Temperatures remain balmy all year long. The festive Carnaval takes place in late February or early March.

Cozumel is one of the most popular cruise-ship ports in the Caribbean.
