When to Go
A relatively mild climate, compared to the rest of the country, Stuttgart offers superb views of nature throughout the year. Winter is cold and summer’s warmer temperatures are often accompanied by rain. That’s why the city is one of the greenest is all of Europe. Although less crowded than many other European cities, October’s Cannstatter Volksfest, Germany's second-largest Oktoberfest celebration, draws extensive revelers to this lively town.

Karl Benz invented the first car and motorcycle in Stuttgart. The city is sometimes referred to as the cradle of the automobile. The Porsche logo contains the horse insignia of Stuttgart.
Much of Stuttgart’s landscape was used for vineyards, many of which still blanket the hillsides.
The city contains the world’s first television tower, Fernsehturm.
