Overview
The largest of the islands, Grand Cayman, promises visitors a tropical vacation for the ages. Georgetown, the capital city, is a bustling hub of activity with a distinctly Caribbean flair. This sparkling British Overseas Territory was mostly uninhabited until the 1600s, except for pirates and shipwrecked sailors. Today, visitors from around the world arrive at its shores for an idyllic vacation in the sun.

When to Go
From mid-December to mid-April, temperatures can reach a delightful 75 F. Rainfall is heaviest between mid-May and October. Although winter is the peak season for vacationers, temperatures in the low 80s F and fewer crowds make summertime a bright option.

Seven Mile Beach is only five and a half miles long.
Grand Cayman sits on the edge of the deepest part of the Caribbean Sea, known as the Cayman Trench, which extends more than four miles deep.
Cuba, located 227 miles north, is the Grand Cayman’s closest neighbor.
Although millions of years old, the Cayman Crystal Caves have only recently been discovered. It is believed that pirates once hid in these caves on Grand Cayman, and perhaps even left some buried treasure behind.
