What to do

North Saskatchewan River Valley: This magnificent urban parkland stretches along the river and is 22 times the size of New York City’s Central Park. Visitors can participate in several activities - snowshoeing, biking, kayaking, skating, paddleboarding, cross-country skiing, or even a quiet picnic. This park provides year-round activities and a serene getaway, no matter the season. 

Royal Alberta Museum's Human History Hall: Located in downtown Edmonton, the Royal Alberta Museum stands as the largest museum in western Canada and contains a wide variety of human and natural history. 

Old Strathcona district: This charming neighborhood brings its visitors entertainment, music, farmers markets, mom and pop shops, art, and multicultural cuisine. It is a business district and cultural hub of historic and artistic expression. 

West Edmonton Mall: This spacious mall not only contains a wide variety of stores, but also features additional magic and adventure with an attached waterpark, blacklight minigolf course, adventure golf course for kids, an ice palace, and a Galaxyland Hasbro theme park.

When to Go

The summer months, June-August, are usually considered the best time to travel to Edmonton. The weather is warm, with several outdoor activities available. If you prefer winter sports however, December-February would be most ideal. Festivities occur throughout the year, from seasonal events to cultural, and artistic celebrations. The Silver Skate Festival, Winefest, Winterval, International Children’s Festival, Disco in the Park, Pride Festival, Edmonton International Jazz Festival, Edmonton Mural Festival, Fringe Festival, and Taste of Edmonton - Canada’s largest food festival, are just a few of Edmonton’s most celebrated. Be sure to check which festivals are going on at the time of your travel, so you can take part in all the fun!
