When to Go
The best time to visit Victoria is spring and autumn when the weather is mild and pleasant and the crowds fewer. Keep in mind that Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere, so spring is September to November and autumn is March to May.
Overview
The state’s capital, Melbourne, is a world-class metropolis and the country’s capital of culture, while Ballarat was once hailed as Australia’s most livable regional city. Regional Victoria is home to Mornington Peninsula, famed for its natural mineral hot springs, day spas, coastal villages, award-winning restaurants, and wineries; Geelong, Victoria’s second-largest city; and Warrnambool, which is beautifully located along the Great Ocean Road, one of the most scenic drives in the world.
