About Alice Springs
Explore Northern Territory
Overview
Alice Springs, which is surrounded by the stunning MacDonnell Ranges, is also a popular jumping-off point for Outback adventures. In town, visitors will find contemporary Australian and traditional Aboriginal culture. Some of its must-see sights include Alice Springs Desert Park, an environmental education facility and wildlife park; ANZAC Hill, a memorial to Australia’s WWII soldiers and a popular place to watch the sunrise or sunset; and the Museum of Central Australia, which tells the story of the region’s unique geological history and features meteorite fragments, fossils and more.
When to Go
The best time to visit Alice Springs is spring and autumn when the weather is pleasant and the crowds fewer. Keep in mind that Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere, so spring is September to November and autumn is March to May.
