About Taipei

Taipei, located in northern Taiwan, serves as its capital, special municipality, and political, economic, and cultural center. It is a modern metropolis juxtaposed alongside a rich history.

Explore Taiwan

Overview

Taipei boasts ancient temples that sit right beside skyscrapers and old-world night markets that lie beside shopping malls and Michelin Star restaurants. Taipei also holds a deep respect for community and the outdoors. Travelers can hike at one of its national parks or take a light stroll through one of the numerous creative parks. Taipei’s reliable public transportation, via bus, train, or taxi, makes it all easy to navigate in-between.

What to do

Shilin Night Market: Taipei is known for its street-food scene and night markets, and Shilin is one of its largest. Get your taste buds ready and feast upon large pancakes, spicy hot pot selections, or fried chicken as big as your head. It’s also a great location to search out original or hand-made gifts for all the loved one’s back home.

Taipei 101 Observatory: It stands as the tallest skyscraper in Taiwan and the 11th tallest in the world. It is also the tallest and largest eco-friendly building in the world and was awarded the Platinum certificate rating under the LEED certification system for energy efficiency and environmental design. Guests can be transported, via speed-breaking elevators, from the 5th to 89th floor Observation Deck in 37 seconds. Here they can relax, take in the views, or document a few iconic photos from Taipei’s tallest vantage point.

National Palace Museum: This museum contains a large permanent collection of Chinese art and artifacts, spanning 8,000 years of Chinese history.

Creative Parks: These parks were created to serve the community, a place for people to connect, unwind, and get outside. Culture and modern art come together through the local artists on display and thoughtful landscaping.

When to Go

October-November is an ideal time to travel to Taipei. Spring is also a pleasant, where outdoor landscapes can best be enjoyed, as well as several of Taiwan’s festivals. The winters are mild, with light showers. Mainly, travelers should be cautious from May-September. These months bring heavy rain and possible monsoons.
