Explore South Korea
Overview
Jeju is blessed with breathtaking waterfalls, particularly Cheonjiyeon, which means “the connection between land and sky.” Other must-see sights on this scenic and culturally rich island include the Jeju Folk Village, which features a plethora of artefacts as well as more than 100 traditional houses; the Manjanggul Lava Tube, one of the largest lava tubes in the world; and Hallasan National Park, the only national park in South Korea that is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you will find Hallasan, the tallest mountain in the country.
What to See
Hamdeok Beach – Famed for its crystal-clear water and soft white sand, family-friendly Hamdeok Beach also hosts volleyball tournaments and music festivals. It is Jeju’s most popular beach, for locals and visitors alike.
Cheonjiyeon – Feel the connection between land and sky at this thundering waterfall. Cheonjiyeon, located in the southwest of the island, is one of Jeju’s top destinations and a place of peace and reflection.
Jeju Folk Village – Take a trip back in time and see how the islanders used to live. Jeju Folk Village boasts more than a hundred traditional houses and is where the island’s folklore is best preserved.
Manjanggul Lava Tube – Explore one of the planet’s largest lava tubes, which is approximately 4.5 miles long. Manjanggul Lava Tube contains lava stalactites, stalagmites, and columns. In fact, it is home to the biggest lava column in the world.
When to Go
The best time to visit Jeju is May and June, when the weather is pleasant and perfect for the beach. If visiting to watch the cherry blossoms bloom, plan your trip for mid-March to early April.
