What To See
Arches National Park – Twisting canyons, towering spires and red plains stretching to the mountain peaks hundreds of miles away. Set aside some time to see one or more of the many natural stone arches that lend the park its name. Delicate is the most famous, and probably the most familiar – you’ve likely seen it on the license plate of the car in front of you on the way here. Landscape Arch is another, towering over the rocky ground with the with the longest span in North America. Other stunning rock formations include Balanced Rock, a large outcropping perched on a narrow neck of stone that appears to defy gravity.
Canyonlands National Park – Nearby Canyonlands National Park provides a breathtaking view of the sprawling canyons and ridges created by the Colorado River.
When to Go
With cold winters and hot, dry summers, Moab is most popular in the spring and fall. If you’re looking to avoid the crowds, Arches National Park is open year-round, though ranger activities are reduced in the winter.
