Overview

Lake Tahoe’s idyllic 72 miles of coastline straddles the breathtaking Sierra Nevada Mountains of both California and Nevada. The area includes the friendly shores and sparkling casinos of South Lake Tahoe, as well as the stunning beaches, forests and towns, such as charming Tahoe City, to the west.

Ski havens such as Heavenly and Squaw Valley lie to the north, as well as the former logging town of Truckee, with its majestic river, ideal for tubing and white water rafting. Paddle boarding amid a backdrop of pine rimmed mountains, swimming, and sailing are perfect summertime activities around Lake Tahoe.

The skies light up with fireworks during the festive 4th of July, as vacationers enjoy all the area has to offer, from shopping and dining to hiking, casinos and more.

Winter comes early to these mountains, and sometime stays until May. The region transforms itself into a mecca for skiers during the lengthy winter season and boasts the largest concentration of ski resorts in North America.

During the rest of the year, prime locales such as Eagle Falls and Emerald Bay State Park beckon nature-loving vacationers from across the globe.
