In Cozumel, snorkel and swim with dolphins at the Chankanaab National Park, whose name means “little sea” in Mayan. Experienced divers tend to visit Cozumel’s northern beaches, while families seek out calmer shores to the south. The Palancar reef off Cozumel’s southwest coast is home to a diverse and colorful array of marine life and is a must-see for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts.

Cozumel is also home to several Mayan ruins, including El Cedral, believed to have been a ceremonial site.  Today, a church stands nearby, continuing the religious significance of the area. Be sure to visit San Gervasio, a site dedicated to Ixchel, the Mayan goddess of fertility.
