About Hunter Valley
Explore New South Wales
Overview
In addition to wine, the Hunter Valley is also a major food destination. The Hunter Valley boasts two national parks, Towarri National Park and Barrington Tops National Park, and the Wollombi Aboriginal Cultural Experience, where visitors can immerse themselves in the oldest living culture on Earth. The Hunter Valley’s wine capital, Pokolbin, has the highest concentration of wineries in the region.
When to Go
The best time to visit the Hunter Valley is spring, which is harvest time, and autumn when the weather is mild and pleasant and the crowds fewer. Keep in mind that Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere, so spring is September to November and autumn is March to May.
